Is your coaching approach falling into the groove of asking one question after the next? Or maybe your default is always reflecting back what you're hearing? These are habits we see newer coaches falling into. They haven't reached the level in their coach development yet to leverage the myriad of skills available to evoke client transformation, growing capability in key ICF Core Competencies.
But, as you grow in your effectiveness, exploring your range as a coach is a critical part of the developmental process and this is what Eliza and I focus on in our ACC and PCC Mentor Coaching service - we provide a 10 hour ICF Mentor Coaching experience (a required step in the credentialing process).
Reflection: Think of the overall rhythm or energy of your sessions? How would you describe it?
If a drummer only plays one note, the music quickly loses its energy—we can’t connect with it, and it won’t move us. Coaching is similar. In this short video, I share a perspective on rhythm and grooves, along with one simple tip you can try in your next session to break old habits and deepen your impact (there are so many more we teach our mentees). I hope it supports you in growing your self-awareness of your rhythm.
